You will notice that even though Zack appeared the screwup, his schemes involved a ton of higher order thinking and passion. It takes a special teacher to recognize that and use it to change the world. (And when it really comes down to it, it was still a TV show) But they showed compassion for their kids. They cared about their learning, always wanting them to do their very best. We didn't see it as project based learning, it was something that we wanted to do in our classroom. Now as teachers we have a chance. (Now if only administration, government, parents had seen this episode). But also because there it is, in layman's (Belding's?) terms, for a new teacher like me to connect with.
